Ascot r5 Diamond Scene ; The two locals at the top of betting who have had perfect cup preparations , vs the two fresh eastern states raiders , sets up a great betting race in this years Perth Cup.
Diamond Scene looks primed to add yet another cup to the already sparkling Peters Investments trophy cabinet. Has won or ran 2nd in all the traditional lead ups and was pretty soft on the line at the end of 2200m last start , suggesting the son of So You Think is ready for 2400m . Sentimental Hero was “unlucky” behind Diamond Scene last start , no doubt it was all about today regardless. Not much between them , my gut just feels the fav might run the trip out a touch stronger with SH having to do more work this time from its draw. The raiders have dominated the carnival and both Young Werther and Serpentine have raced against far superior opposition in the spring. YW gets Damian Lane , Serpentine is a front running dry tracker trained by Watherhouse. Can they get off the plane and produce in the heat ? Bunbury r7 Magnasonic ; Back to his home track where he has started 3 times for 2 wins and a second and is reigning Horse of the Year. Technically up in grade to a c5 , he is still up near the top of the weights as the top weight is also a c2 and it’s a evenly rated field of 7. My wish is that he jumps cleanly and crosses the two on his inside and takes a sit on likely leader The Great Hoya . The three favourites will all be coming at the leaders but all 3 may also need a touch further (hopefully) , to reel us in. $7 / $3 is about right (Pay 1 & 2) to have a small bet on a each way basis

Bunbury r6 Go Go Grommet ; Can be tricky trusting straight track form back around a bend however they were stronger races , he’s flying , drawn well and is 1/1 at Bunbury. Hopefully were going for 3/3 , if not I think $1,90 is actually the Best Bet of the meeting.

Best Bet Geraldton r3 Special Plan ; Hoping the win at start 12 gives her the confidence to go on with it and progress through the grades. This is a thin c2 and her win was dominant. She is versatile enough to lead or take a sit pace and pattern pending. Maximum Impact’s current form is good enough to win this , 1 from 47 makes me confident the fav can go back to back.

He is 2/2 2nd up and we believe 1200m will be his pet distance. Drawn to camp just behind the speed , we are confident he will be in the finish at nice each way odds. 10/90 % split reccomended

Best Bet Albany r3 My Idol ; Beaten under a length in a provincial 1300m maiden on debut , now drops to country level and gets out to 1600m . Parc It In Here could improve significantly out to the mile ,very thin race after that hence the skinny qoute.

Best Each Way Bunbury r7 Blaizen Cazah ; Another last start Narrogin winner , 2 starts ago he finished 0.2 lengths behind today’s favourite Candelight Sherif . We are getting $8 each way odds compared to $3.20 despite being drawn for a far better run .

Best Bet Ascot r3 Nonesospicy ; This is more of an expected pattern play rather than a horse rating. Hot with an Easterly , she has very good early speed and landing in front over the Ascot 1000m in those conditions probably justifies the short qoute , she doesn’t then Gold Maker becomes a serious threat. Wrote this last night , $1.95 is almost to short , I’ll be waiting for $2 absolute minimum or leaving.
Best Each Way Ascot r8 Super Smink ; Arguably beaten by the barrier in the Railway where she rattled home from last along the rail to be beaten under a length. When she won the Asian Beau , trainer Dan Morton openly stated that he was most looking forward to the Northerly after the Railway . Here she is from a much better gate and primed for her grand final. She has been heavily supported into favoritism already but we can still make money on a 40/60 % basis to cover stake or heavy place to make money from the place.
