Northam Numbers

Best Bet Northam r7 King’s Flirt ; Resumed over 1200m when just caught late then dropped back to 1000m and just arrived in time to run down a handy 1000m horse. 1100m might be her sweet spot and although she’s up to c3 company it doesn’t look any harder. No good thing but hardest to beat on a very tough program.

Best Bet Belmont r4 Charlie Jane ; It’s 3 2yo runs were solid enough , all in listed / group races. Resumed with a tough win when sitting wide throughout and beating her more fancied rivals. If it didn’t gas her then she should be hard to beat again.

Sunday Prayers

Hopefully redemption for yesterday’s shocker.

Weekend Winners

Best Bet Belmont r1 Miss Intention ; Her main problem is how far back she gets so in a field of 6 , as long as she’s not detached she should be close enough . The top 2 in betting are a query at 1600m and 3rd is a maiden so in my opinion $5.50 is worth the gamble that she can round them up.

Belmont r9 Red Fifty Three ; Started his career in blazing fashion and has rediscovered that form in recent times. Ran down a smart one last start from a wide gate with a big weight. From barrier two he looks extremely hard to beat.

Quaddie (r6-9) ; 1 3 4 5 6 7 8 , 1 3 4 5 6 , 7 , 2 . $35 for 100%

Best Roughie Belmont r6 Queensland Diesel ; If Malkari Pindarri is $2.90 from barrier 14 then there has to be value out there and I’ve settled on a horse who’s yet to figure in 3 runs to date however look a little bit deeper and there has been excuses. We won’t know what’s under the hood until he gets a clear run but he did look to be traveling with nowhere to go last start and definitely looks suited to the distance rise. $26 is big enough to have a nibble and find out. Rockin The Silks , Rocking the Casbah and Schnoots along with the favourite look the main chances.

r6 Box trifecta ; 1.3.4.8.9 $60 for 100% .

Best Value Belmont r9 Fast Flicker ; Kicked off it’s career with a very impressive win albeit it was at Esperance. Straight out for a long spell (don’t know if it had an issue) and resumed with a cracking run in Westpeed Platinum Saturday race behind better horses than it meets here. $5 each way looks a great price with Harvey taking over the reigns.

Best Bet Belmont r11 Dun With The Blues ; She is the progressive type in a midweek staying race where most of them go around against each other for inconsistent results. Loved the way she attacked the line over 1700m , stepping up from 1300m and her breeding suggests she will lap up the 2100m . $6 each way is a steal . Zaza Rock might find the front this time but might have to work to get there with 59kg’s.

Sunday Prayers

Best Bet York r6 Cocktail Party ; 3yo filly kicking off her debut in a 46+ against the older horses off the back of one 400m trial. York is a quirky track but she showed really good speed in the trial and looked professional so hopefully she can make full use of barrier 1 and lead them a merry dance.

Seymour R4 Elouyou ; Purely noticed our boy Damian Lane has gone to the country to ride this horse only , a 4yo on debut from the carpark. Must be showing something .

The Belmont meeting is very uninspiring punting wise and the track needs a spell so we will look elsewhere for a bet.

Best Bet Randwick r8 Overpass; Using the Quokka reference to suggest he can lead from barrier 1 and give some serious cheek. He is looking for an Everest spot so he will be primed to run to his best. It’s a great race and there will be a wall of serious horses chasing him but at each way prices I’m going to back him on a 25/75% win and place basis.

Flemington Quaddie (r7-10) ; We will all be watching Amelia’s Jewel in a much anticipated Eastern States campaign with Bunbury boy Damien Lane in the saddle. No point taking odds on from the carpark but we can stand her out in the jackpot quaddie and cheer her on.

1 , 1 , 1 5 8 10 . field $64 for 100%

Best Value Kalgoorlie r7 Prize Pursuit ; There’s enough juice in the $10 / $3 each way to find out if he is back to his best, in fact if he’s near that level then it’s overs. Mens Club has 60.5kgs and 1300m is 100m past his ideal distance. It’s a genuine quaddie field leg raffle so I’m going to back Prize Pursuit on a heavy place basis.

Best Bet Kalgoorlie r9 Pray With You ; The barrier beat him last time but he still hit the line hard. Banking on him settling closer from the good gate and from there $6.50 looks a great each way bet.

Belmont r1 Paddy’s Flyin ; He sure is flyin , winning 4/7 including 2/2 this track & distance. Drops in weight thanks to the claim and this is no harder . Madam Kisses looks the late closer / biggest threat .

r1 Novelties ; 1.3/1.3/FD/FD $1 Quinella , $2 exacta , $8 trifecta $24 first 4.

Best Bet Belmont r8 Costazita ; This horse caught my eye at a stud dispersal sale as a weanling along with everyone else and he went for a tidy sum . He hasn’t let his buyers down with two ultra impressive wins to remain undefeated . $2.05 is short enough considering he has jumped from a maiden to a westpeed platinum to a 66+ but it’s the weight that gets me in. I can’t see the dangers giving him 5kgs plus and beating him.

Quaddie (r5-8) ; 1.2.5/ 5 6 (2.3.4.9) /1.2.4.5.6.13/10 $36 for 100% ($36 for 50% with bracketed selections 2nd leg) Total spend $72

Northam Numbers

Best Bet Northam r7 Miss Intention ; Quirky mare who gets a long way back and rattles home. Her record of only 2 wins from 35 in my opinion is partly due to this pattern , ie gets too far back. Northam has been the one track this season that has generally assisted back markers in this distance range so she should be hard to hold out . Definitely need to go each way with a horse like her.

Wednesday Winners

Best Bet Belmont r5 Bread To Flirt ; She doesn’t win often (3/22) ; however she won in this grade 4 back and has run 3rd in harder races all 3 starts since. From barrier 1 all eyes will be on the cutaway in the earlier races to judge the going as that’s almost certainly where she will make her run.

Weekend Winners

Best Bet Belmont r3 Aztec Ruler ; Dropping in grade from an emphatic 3 length win when finally getting things go right. Pays a big price with the handicapper , going up 5.5kgs to 60kgs however being a small field with decent pace engaged I think class can get him over the line. Pompey is the weighted danger , I think we will get better than $2.10 currently on offer , if not the Quinella might be the go.

Best Value Belmont r8 Street Parade ; He’s finished in the top 3 in 10 of 14 starts including some top 3yo races. Resumes off a trial where only WA’s best horse Amelia’s Jewell ran him down late and he looked to be cruising with plenty left in the tank. The two 4yo mares in Baby Paris & My Bella Mae are very smart but they have to give the gelding 5kgs and he is paying a juicy $8 each way. I will be saving on My Bella Mae and risking Baby Paris.

Belmont r9 Count The Sessions ; He’s an absolute rouge who does everything wrong , particularly at the start and here I am tipping him at a metro Saturday meeting!! After being the flashing light horse for what seems like an eternity he has won 2 on the bounce. Last start he began the best he ever has and landed in the perfect position and was never going to lose. Providing he jumps cleanly again ( no guarantee given ) he should get the same run and the way he is going he should repeat the dose.

Belmont Quaddie ; 1 4 , 1 3 4 5 6 8 , 4 10 , 2 3 4 5 8 . $120 for 100%

Best Bet Northam r5 Miss Ava ; 2 starts ago she put a field away with ease , thrashing two future maiden winners. Last start she ran 2nd to an all the way winner on a leader bias track. That winner went like a busted crab next start and so did one from the maiden win yesterday , both started odds on so some doubt on the strength of the form but this is a weaker race than they contested.

Belmont Quaddie (r5-8) ; FD/2.4/1.5.7.9/5.6 $144 for 100%

Nothing at any value stands out today so we are concentrating on the quaddie . The vital leg will be the first one as far as a profit goes. Another way of tackling it would be having the short price Pike Favourite (No 6) one out for a larger % than the rest of them . I’m going to roll the dice and hope it gets done.

Sunday Prayers

Best Value Kalgoorlie r4 Turbo Power & Jakestar ; Two starts ago they ran the quinella this track , distance and grade. Last start they stepped up to 1400m and Turbo was held up for clear running while Jake worked to find the lead and only faded late. Hoping Men’s Club and Talk it Up take each other on , then they will be vulnerable late . Turbo has Poy going on and Jake gets in with 53.5kgs.

Novelties ; 1.3.7/1.3.5.7/1.2.3.5.7/1.2.3.5.7.8 $27 trifecta $81 first 4

Best Each Way Kalgoorlie r5 Pray With You ; We found this one 3 weeks ago at $19 when supported into $9 and our prayers were answered. Again Poy will need to pull out a peach from the carpark like last time but if he can find a back to tow him into the race then I don’t think he should be $9.50 so we go again .

Best Bet Kalgoorlie r6 Laughing Buddha ; While soundly beaten last start at short odds , he looks the kind of horse that needs to be wound up early , he was boxed in behind the leader who got it soft and couldn’t build up the revs quick enough. Drawn barrier 1 I would love him to lead or get off the fence before the corner and try and pinch it . If you could guarantee Galaxy Affair runs out a strong 1600 then he is clearly the one to beat , hopefully with a 5kg advantage we can hold him out. Rocky Path goes in the quaddie.

Best Bet Belmont r1 Hymn’s of Eladdair ; Only defeat was narrow to the unbeaten and richly talented Flash Max on debut. From barrier 1 he either leads or stalks Happy as Larry and from there he’s extremely hard to beat.

Belmont r5 Currimundi ; The only thing stopping this horse today is the barrier / map . It has beaten equal favourite Crescent City on it’s merits twice recently . Might have to come from last and that’s been a problem at Belmont but with only 7 runners and the way he has been hitting the line he still is clearly the one to beat imo.

Belmont r8 Phanta ; While he meets rivals much worse off under the wfa scale , he maps to get complete control out in front . Think he’s going well enough to fight them off under this scenario , especially the way Belmont has been playing lately .

Best Bet Northam r7 Indie Ruler ; The addition of blinkers did the trick last start, leading them a merry dance . Splitting Miss Ava and Don’t Tell Judas the start prior is strong formlines , getting back on a drier surface a negative. Dun With The Blues will be charging late , staying at 1300m her negative . Both go in the quaddie .

Quaddie (r5-8) ; 2 7 8 9 12 16 ; 1 4 , 1 3 , 1 2 3 4 6 8 10 11 . $224 for 100%

Best Bet Belmont r5 Flash Max ; Not many horses go from maiden grade to a c1 with the weight jump and get the job done. This bloke did and was truckloaded by punters to do so. While now goes to a c3 , think he is destined for Saturday racing and wouldn’t be surprised to see those who were on last time back the truck up again.

Best Value Belmont r6 Master Alex ; Another one that made the maiden to c1 jump in successive races and the 2nd horse has franked the form . The use of the 3kg claim see’s him well placed to bring up the hattrick at each way prices. Lord Vampi has the most upside but makes the jump from maiden grade to c3 as a young 3yo at just start 3 hence the $2.40 is too short for mine but goes in the quaddie as a definite winning chance.

Belmont r6 Songaa ; Providing you can make ground Saturday , there is mad speed engaged in this and he should be able to get to the outside and zap them.

Best Bet Belmont r7 Aztec Ruler ; Bursting to win a race , another one praying for a fair track on Saturday. Ran 2nd first up , blew the start and flashed home 2nd up then came from a mile back against the bias and just missed 3rd up. River Rubicon was unlucky not to win first up but has to outsprint Aztec giving him 5.5kgs.
