Ascot r5 Diamond Scene ; The two locals at the top of betting who have had perfect cup preparations , vs the two fresh eastern states raiders , sets up a great betting race in this years Perth Cup.

Diamond Scene looks primed to add yet another cup to the already sparkling Peters Investments trophy cabinet. Has won or ran 2nd in all the traditional lead ups and was pretty soft on the line at the end of 2200m last start , suggesting the son of So You Think is ready for 2400m . Sentimental Hero was “unlucky” behind Diamond Scene last start , no doubt it was all about today regardless. Not much between them , my gut just feels the fav might run the trip out a touch stronger with SH having to do more work this time from its draw. The raiders have dominated the carnival and both Young Werther and Serpentine have raced against far superior opposition in the spring. YW gets Damian Lane , Serpentine is a front running dry tracker trained by Watherhouse. Can they get off the plane and produce in the heat ? It’s an ask but if they cope they must be right in the mix.

Best Bet Bunbury r5 Only Us ; Has run 3 2nd’s in a row including 1 in this class , at this track and distance when beating today’s fav home. On the 3 day back up which the trainer has had success with in the past .

Bunbury r7 Magnasonic ; Back to his home track where he has started 3 times for 2 wins and a second and is reigning Horse of the Year. Technically up in grade to a c5 , he is still up near the top of the weights as the top weight is also a c2 and it’s a evenly rated field of 7. My wish is that he jumps cleanly and crosses the two on his inside and takes a sit on likely leader The Great Hoya . The three favourites will all be coming at the leaders but all 3 may also need a touch further (hopefully) , to reel us in. $7 / $3 is about right (Pay 1 & 2) to have a small bet on a each way basis

Bunbury r4 Coondle ; The form around he’s last 3 starts has really stood up for a c1. Nonesospicy & Rissoles are now both Saturday winners . Think it can take a sit on the fav and use the extra 200m to get the upper hand . The 3kg claim really helps. This one is the value @ $3.80 for those who want to just back a single horse.

Bunbury r6 Go Go Grommet ; Can be tricky trusting straight track form back around a bend however they were stronger races , he’s flying , drawn well and is 1/1 at Bunbury. Hopefully were going for 3/3 , if not I think $1,90 is actually the Best Bet of the meeting.

The only thing that could stop him is the extra 2kg pushing him over the 60kg mark to 60.5 but I’m counting on the extra fitness and CJP who is riding as good as anyone in the state at the moment to give him a soft run from the ideal gate.

She is versatile enough to lead or take a sit pace and pattern pending. Maximum Impact’s current form is good enough to win this , 1 from 47 makes me confident the fav can go back to back.

Best Value Geraldton r5 Prince Ragnar ; Speedster who seems to run for Cooper and all 3 runs at Gero this prep have been top class for a $8 chance. The extra 113m is the query but dry Geraldton usually plays quick from the front and it looks great each way value.

Best Value Ascot r6 El Patron ; Considering he has only won 2 / 27 , his 2nd up record of 3 starts for 1 win and 2 seconds indicates today’s he’s a reasonable chance to show his best at big odds. First up run was good , will need a peach from the bad gate.

Best Bet Ascot r7 Bonjoy ; Remarkable run first up off a barrier mishap , flashing home along the rails from near last . Drawn to settle closer and out to the mile , she deserves to win this feature race.

He is 2/2 2nd up and we believe 1200m will be his pet distance. Drawn to camp just behind the speed , we are confident he will be in the finish at nice each way odds. 10/90 % split reccomended

Best Bet Albany r3 My Idol ; Beaten under a length in a provincial 1300m maiden on debut , now drops to country level and gets out to 1600m . Parc It In Here could improve significantly out to the mile ,very thin race after that hence the skinny qoute.

Albany r6 Frantic War ; We present him 3rd up in fine fettle and ready to run a big race. Nearly pinched it same track , distance , class and weight last time and is now at peak fitness. This is a stronger line up however and there is speed drawn inside him. He will try his best as always with a 10/90 % split the safest option if wanting to bet.

Bunbury r1 Santanova ; Michael Lane at his home track , barrier 1 , 2 nice trials , good a chance as any on debut.

Best Bet Bunbury r5 Lipstick Jungle; Might of only won a Narrogin maiden on debut but she did it from last after being slow out and she won by an extending 1 3/4 lengths. That’s impressive anywhere and even more so on a tight , short straight track like Narrogin. With Universal Hotness dominating the market we can make money on a 25/75 % basis.

Best Each Way Bunbury r7 Blaizen Cazah ; Another last start Narrogin winner , 2 starts ago he finished 0.2 lengths behind today’s favourite Candelight Sherif . We are getting $8 each way odds compared to $3.20 despite being drawn for a far better run .

Best Bet Ascot r3 Nonesospicy ; This is more of an expected pattern play rather than a horse rating. Hot with an Easterly , she has very good early speed and landing in front over the Ascot 1000m in those conditions probably justifies the short qoute , she doesn’t then Gold Maker becomes a serious threat. Wrote this last night , $1.95 is almost to short , I’ll be waiting for $2 absolute minimum or leaving.

Best Each Way Ascot r8 Super Smink ; Arguably beaten by the barrier in the Railway where she rattled home from last along the rail to be beaten under a length. When she won the Asian Beau , trainer Dan Morton openly stated that he was most looking forward to the Northerly after the Railway . Here she is from a much better gate and primed for her grand final. She has been heavily supported into favoritism already but we can still make money on a 40/60 % basis to cover stake or heavy place to make money from the place.

Best Bet Esperence r7 True Chance ; Beat a very similar field convincingly first up over 1300m and won it’s maiden before a break over 1600m so the 1400m 2nd up should suit. Carries a bit of weight but still has upside compared to the rest . Al Tina ran home hard from last first up behind True Chance and might be able to add some value into the novelties.

Best Bet Albany r4 Becalotti ; Strong winner first crack at this distance last start up in Geraldton. Staying at the same weight , her best is better than these so if she copes with the recent travel back to Perth and down to Albany she should be almighty hard to beat. Perplexing market with Queen Nardi $2.70 fav for finishing 5th behind Becalotti up in Gero.
