Weekend Winners

Best Bet Ascot r4 Major Max ; 3yo who has won 3/6 plus two 2nds . Only defeat this campaign was against a track bias and the two wins have been soft. Is versatile as can be ridden forward or back . This is a step up but is progressive enough to handle it.

Best Roughie Ascot r7 Truevinsky ; The trick to these 3yo staying races is finding one that will definitely stay. Truevinsky has been taking on the older horses in lowly rated races , running 3 2nds at Narrogin and York with 60.5 , 61.5 kgs. In between he’s run 3rd to today’s equal favourite Another Chino beaten 1.5 lengths despite a torrid run. Drops to 54kgs , is rock hard fit and we’re getting $51 compared to $3.10 . Goes in all novelties with the two favourites and quaddie.

r7 Novelties ; 1.3.8/1.3.4.8.9/1.3.4.8.9/1.3.4.8.9 $36 trifecta $72 first 4

Quaddie (r6-9) ; FD/1.3.8/1.3/1.3.4.5.12 $300 for 100%

Best Bet Mt Barker r7 Bentley Beau ; Is loving life in the Great Southern and Kyra Yuill knows him well. This is his distance range , class and I’m actually surprised were getting black figures ($2.40).

Quaddie (r4-7) ; 1.2.3.5.6/1.2.4.6.7.9/2.3.6.7.8.11/3 $180 for 100%

Pinny Punts

Pinjarra r3 Frantic War ; 3 2nds out of 4 starts this prep , 2 of them this track & distance , it’s time to get it done. From the barrier he should get every possible .

Best Bet Pinjarra r5 Starring Knight ; Jumping from a c1 to a c5 but there are only 2 legitimate c5’s in the race and neither have won for a while. Comes here off a career best win for an in form stable .

Sunday Prayers

Best Bet Geraldton r4 Iht’s Closing Inn ; He beat stablemate Paris Petard convincingly in January and today meets him considerably better at the weights thanks to the claim for ZJP. Similarly , Miss Eugene’s current form is strong enough to challenge but can it give the fav 4.5 kgs and beat it? Iht maps for the run of the race.

Geraldton r6 Pop The Moet ; No star but when he finds the front and is allowed to run he generally takes some catching as was the case 2 starts ago when he didn’t look like being beaten. Drawn for that scenario and his each way odds mean we can make a profit on a 25/75 % basis even if he clings on to 3rd. Mocha Dream the obvious but odds on from the carpark , back 300m in trip isn’t an appealing betting proposition.

Early Quaddie (r1-4) ; 1 2 3 9 12 , 4 (2 5 7 8 10 ) 1 4 5 6 , 9 . $20 for 100% ($50 for 50%)

Quaddie (r4-7) ; 9 , 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 , 1 2 , 2 3 9 11 . $56 for 100%

Weekend Winners

Ascot r1 Sir Mambo & Some Sort ; Thinking Some Sort kicks through from barrier 1 , Sir Mambo comes across and parks outside. As long as the two apprentice’s don’t go to war too early it’s hard to see the others getting past. The market is struggling to separate them and so am I. With both paying over $3 it is possible to back both equally for a profit. The other option is the quinella with the risk one of the two fail to perform up to expectations.

Best Bet Ascot r8 Baby Paris ; Brilliant filly who flies fresh. Takes on some seasoned tough open class horses in a race with hectic speed. The outside draw is not ideal , with only 52kgs I’m hoping they go forward but sit a length or so back , if it’s 3 wide so be it and pounce on straightening. Massive test first up but on a very tough program she is my best of the day. Unlike the midweek winners , confidence is not as high so stake accordingly.

WA Represents

Rosehill r9 Uncommon James ; Boarding The Lane Train as Frosty picks up the ride on the exciting Queenslander in search of another Group 1. Last start he won a brutally run Oakleigh Plate at just start 8 . Maps to get the right run , the danger looks to be the runner up from the Oakleigh in Asfoora.

Albany Analysis

Best Bet Albany r4 Brave Contender ; Gave Artie’s Comet windburn when getting a split in the Mt Barker Cup , was cruelly denied a repeat when hopelessly blocked all the way to the line next start. Little separating the two and The Great One form or market wise. The distance and positive jockey change are key factors.

Wednesday Winners

Best Bet Belmont r2 Becalotti ; Debut run was full of merit , making good ground from the back into 2nd behind a winner who won again Sunday. Drawn to get a better run than the favourite .

Belmont r6 Maktastic ; Two runs in WA indicate he can win a few staying races over here . Has done a power of work in both and fought on strongly. Step up in trip suits , hopefully can get a more economical run . Apprentice only races can get messy , having one of the leading locals on is an advantage.

Adelaide Ace

Best Bet Morphettville r9 Taunting ; WA’s Chris Parnham heads over with veteran stayer Stafford’s Lad in the cup and we wish connections the best of luck but it’s his pick up ride in the last that we’re keen to follow. Has a great track & distance record , drawn to get a great run on pace and has won a trial to show he is ready for this first up assignment. Just has to tick the good track box to be beating these.

Quaddie (r6-9) ; 11 , 1 2 3 4 8 9 11 13 , 1 2 10 11 , 2 $32 for 100%

Sunday Prayers

Ascot r2 Beach West ; Trusting the young apprentice to jump straight to the front and rate it at a tempo it can run out the 1400m. With the likes of Harvey and Pike stalking her on the main dangers , I’m thinking we will have the rosary beads out last 150m but it is a Sunday Prayer ! Saving on Guard The Safe .

Best Bet Ascot r6 Spirit Man ; Dropping in grade and drawn to get a lovely run on the back of the speed. If blinkers on first time even finds an extra length then he is clearly the one to beat. Kings Flirt run her race before the start last time . If she jumps cleanly and crosses she is the quinella / back up horse.

Weekend Winners

Best Bet Ascot r5 Let’s Deal ; Was going nowhere until stepped up in trip , then smacked a weak country field and backed it up by running past Casino Seventeen . If that horse is a legitimate $2.10 hope in today’s Bunbury Cup then you would think the same price here is generous.

Ascot r7 Creator ; Great win first up , should of won second up , coming from last on an on speed dominated day through traffic to run 2nd. Draw , weight and distance give him a great chance at redemption. If Burnya to Survive runs up to his best level he probably wins. Nothing wrong with his last run under the circumstances but a bar plate remains on , too good to leave out of the quaddie.

Wednesday Winners

Best Bet Pinjarra r1 Laquetta’s Gift ; The narrow 2nd to Feel’s Playful is far superior form to what she meets here. The 3kg claim allows her to carry less weight than her lesser performed rivals. Very hard to beat under those circumstances.

Pinjarra r2 Frantic War ; Knocking the door down to win a race , finds a very winnable race. Replicates any of his 3 runs this campaign and he simply beats these. Fingers crossed he sits just off them and powers away the last 100m and Lucky Ducks are back in the winners circle.

Early Quaddie (r2-5) ; 2, 3 9 10 , 1 4 5 6 7 8 , 1 3 4 . $54 for 100%

Monday Money Maker

Best Bet York r1 Tahitian Pearl ; A 2nd to Supersession , beaten under 2 lengths is ridiculous form for a York maiden. That horse has won 2 graduation Saturday races since and would start 1.01 in this field. She was 100s that day herself due to uninspiring trials and debut but if she can reproduce the Belmont run then she goes very close to winning. Hard to invest heavily but $4.60 (365) is juicy enough to have a bet.

Sunday Prayers

Best Bet Esperance r3 My Boy Chris ; Classic case of a horse showing a bit in the provincial area , struggling to go on with it and then loving the move to the country. If he can find a spot close to the speed from the tricky barrier then he is bound to be in the finish at an each way price.

Best Bet Ascot r2 Prawns Eleven ; The speed in this looks hectic so Pike can smoke the pipe in behind them and then unleash his electric turn of foot. Normally I’d be concerned with the drop back to 1000m however the speed and small field look like an ideal set up.

Albany Analysis

Best Bet Albany r4 Brave Contender ; In a rich vein of form , winning the Mt Barker cup effortlessly last start. Roch Legacy is coming from metro racing and has a winnable weight after the claim but he has been up a long time and most metro staying races aren’t that strong form references so I can’t justify the short odds.

Quaddie (r4-7) ; 3 , 1 , 1 2 3 4 6 7 9 10 , 2 3 4 5 6 . $40 for 100%

Best Bet Ascot r4 Major Max ; It’s not the form behind his two wins , it’s the ease in how he’s done it with the look of a horse that has plenty more to give. Destined for Saturday racing. Trevern is trialing the house down and is proven in this grade . Excelestial is racing out of it’s skin . Hoping they race each other early to set it up for Max to swoop over the top.

Sunday Prayers

Pinjarra r1 Frantic War ; Most of these are racing down the unique straight 1000m for the first time which makes any predictions of speed maps and tactics next to impossible. Further complicating things is the natural speed horses are spread out from the inside to the outside. Generally speaking the outside is considered the better going. We are drawn right next to the hot favourite Rupert’s Empire close to the inside (4/3) . He races on speed and looks very hard to beat on his recent trial. In an ideal world we can find his back , peel off at the 200m and let rip down the middle . If the blinkers help him finish off even a fraction better then he has to be hard to hold out . The rest of the field is just guesswork with the other one in the market , Psyschic Session first up no trial but drawn the right side if he’s good enough.

Betting Strategy : 100% wins . Don’t really like backing him straight out against a hot favourite but the odds dictate we back him in and take the obvious quinella as back up.

Best Value Pinjarra r8 Creator ; Great win first up and that’s the first time he’s done much at all first up in nine attempts. That says to me he’s feeling good and he’s won 2nd up on 2 other occasions. Hoping Halatorian and Sniparoochy dual from a fair way out and then we will be right in the mix at each way prices.

Best Value Ascot r6 Sizzle Me Patrick ; Made up a stack of ground on debut over 1200m then destroyed a maiden field over 1400m 2nd up. Steps straight into listed level which admittedly is a huge task however the distance increase looks right up his alley. and if your going to make the leap , these derby lead ups are the best time to try. The strong easterlies forecast are tipped to heavily favour those on pace , if that’s the case then his chances diminish so watch a few before investing each way.

Best Bet Ascot r7 Admiration Express , The girls turn on the way to the Oaks which our favourite is the $2.50 All In favourite . She also holds favouritism in the WA Derby All In market. She was brave first up doing all the work outside the race fit Feels Playful , still coming on the line. With a little cover she should be too strong late over the 1800m .

Gero Gambles

Geraldton r1 Bidaya ; Ex Godolphin galloper who has a 3rd in a Geelong 3yo maiden in only 4 starts. Trialed really well for the new connections recently and this is weak . Queen Tiffany the obvious danger , thought she ran 2nd by default the other day , wasn’t going anywhere but nor were the others besides the winner.

Best Bet Geraldton r6 Let Them All Talk ; Brought provincial / metro maiden / c1 form to a weak country maiden last start , was backed as if unbeatable and didn’t let supporters down . Looks like a horse that can race through the lower classes in the region. Think those who backed it last time will re load and it jumps favourite so I’m taking $4 now.

Geraldton r7 The Singing Tiger ; Dropping considerably in class , drawn for the right run and the claim brings the big weight down to a manageable 60kgs. We have cashed in on Jeanella’s 2 wins in the region. $1.90 from the carpark looks pretty skinny.

Wednesday Winners

Best Bet Ascot r1 King’s Flirt ; Won by almost 7 on debut over today’s 1200m. Big question mark on the form behind her but she can find the front again and from there it will take a pretty big sustained run to gun her down.

Ascot r7 Maktastic ; Only won 1 from 21 but has placed in much stronger grade in Victoria including 2/3 2nd up . Horror gate but wide with cover most likely a good spot to be in a field like this. Drops in weight and class thanks to the claim and looks hard to beat.
