Best Bet Ascot r3 Watch Me Rock ; Two very nice wins this prep with a flop in the Bunbury Stakes in between. Perhaps it was 2nd up syndrome or being in the wrong part of the track , his class stands out in this race regardless. Unless the strong winds forecast dish up a leaders paradise , I can’t see him being beaten which makes the $2.05 more than acceptable . (I rate him a $1.40 chance).

Best Value Kalgoorlie r6 Queen’s Sacrifice ; Made headlines when winning an Ascot c1 over 1400m at 200/1. Only beaten 4 lengths next start in c3 company over 1600m. Drops back to 1400m in a country c2 and goes around at $9 .

Albany Analysis

Best Bet Albany r6 Warralea Lass ; 6 Days ago went around in a 62+ at Ascot as our best each way tip. That didn’t end well but she only faded late after doing work in the breeze. She now backs up with only 53kgs at her home track in a country 70+ , great race for her. What a Prince is clearly the best horse in this , 61kg (8kgs more than Warralea Lass) over a staying trip is a big ask.

Best Bet Pinjarra r5 Redback Flyer ; Maps to get every possible . (for those who followed yesterday’s tip , a competent jockey this time) and was eating up the ground first up over 1400m. The others in the market are drawn poorly and I genuinely think it’s an odds on chance , so happy to have a decent bet at $2,20.

Best Bet Ascot r8 Camera Action ; Has always trialed like a horse with above average ability . Perhaps hasn’t quiet lived up to it yet however its form is more than good enough to be more than competitive in this. Should lob one or two pairs back and it’s turn of foot can cover them . Not a good thing but I have it marked favourite and see $4 as great value.

Best Bet Narrogin r2 Endless Joy ; Has the best recent form amongst a pretty limited bunch and has Faithfull who is always one of the leading jockeys at these country meets. Just has to get the extra 100m and it will breakthrough.

Narrogin r6 Platinum Shot ; Narrow 3rd at Ascot c3 level is good form for a Narrogin c5. Race with plenty of chances but she deserves to start favourite . Another solid ride for Faithful.

Best Bet Pinjarra r9 Captain Pluto ; Almost an identical field and speed map to the Bunbury Cup with an extra 300m to run. Considering he was the strongest late and won by over a length , it’s hard to not have him on top.

Best Value Pinjarra r10 Too Much Talk ; The narrow 2nd to Cross Statement 2nd up stands up as a form reference to warrant having an each way bet on a 25/75 % basis in this line up. 3 starts at the distance for 1 win 1 2nd.

Best Each Way Ascot r4 Sure Thing ; Jump N Run horse who thrives on high speed pressure racing . He is undefeated in WA albeit at Esperance . Jumping from a country cl2 to a 60+ graduation is a massive concern however his times have been good and his racing style should suit Ascot . Definitely not a Sure Thing and to be honest the price could be a little longer but I don’t like the meeting as a whole and am left with this bet.

Best Bet Ascot r5 Amaroo Star ; Was too strong for a speedy filly last start and maps to get a similar run in the same grade, track and distance . Improving with race experience and can go on with it here.

Ascot r7 Sixinch Heels ; Won her 1200m maiden at Pinjarra in a romp and although this is stronger , the form from her initial campaign is strong enough to suggest she can handle these and better races in the future.

Magnasonic comes to a midweek c5 off the back of yet another luckless run in Saturday company In a 1200m race with very little early pace on paper , barrier 2 and Pike , it really should be a great race for him. His profile suggests a peak performance after a luckless run and the stable report say’s his fresh and ready to go. Deferred thoroughly deserves to be favourite and we will need some Wizardry to win but he is a great chance to be in the finish . I map him leaders back and with the cutaway in place there will be no getting held up.

Best Each Way Ascot r5 Hang Glider ; Tipped him as an each way special , suffered cardiac arrythmia and finished last. Sits 3 deep no cover 5 weeks later and gets up at 20s. Ahh the great game! Cessastion is stretched at 1200m , Brave Strike has Pike tax although concede he is the one to beat. Each Way odds in a field of 8 is the bet imo.

Best Bet Belmont r4 King’s Drama ; Has been finishing his 1000m races off well in higher grade , indicating 1200m down in grade should be the perfect recipe to break through. In a quaddie dominated by short priced favourites , he looks the best of them.

* Deffered has a better wet track record but still stands out on class

* Perfect Chant first time 1400m and off a disappointing run but is also down in grade and has blinkers first time.

Best Bet Bunbury r3 Fluro Neuro ; Has won two in a row and this is no harder , in fact you could make a strong argument it’s weaker , depth wise at least. Carried 60kgs 2 starts ago so weight shouldn’t be an issue and showed last start it can sit forward or back in the run.

Bunbury r4 Just Saint James ; Put Cessation to the sword over 1200m 2 starts ago and yet they have come up equal favourites. 1200m suits James far better imo . Both Lonsdaleite and Miss Flirtacious come from stronger races and can threaten.

Bunbury r6 Magnasonic heads to his home track on Cup Day for a Graduation 60+ 1100m.. Scorpion Ruler looks the leader and hardest to beat with Sky Duke looking to cross from the outside. Our Jockey has a task from the wide barrier , hopefully he can go forward and find some cover. From there he is an each way chance in a wide open race. All 3 wins have been here , always an advantage to race at home against horses that have to travel .

Small each way bet , more interested in the novelties which should be juicy.

Best Bet Pinjarra r3 She’s Perfection ; First run at a trip this prep she went down at $1.45 . She bumped into a leader who was bursting to win a staying maiden that day and the price did look ridiculous. She still nearly got there and the $3.90 and drifting odds today look much more appealing with blinkers being applied for the first time.

Ascot r1 Blue Rocket ; Has been a bit hit and miss early in it’s career but in better races , including the hits. Ginger Morpheus Smoked them at start two but it was at $1.24 which indicates it was a very weak race. Off Blue Rockets trial I think there is enough price differential to see if she can run ginger down.

Best Bet Ascot r7 Twains Angel ; While no match for Snowdome who skipped clear when she was held up last start , she still balanced up and hit the line. Snowdome won well again since and I’m shocked she is not favourite at set weights and penalties in this line up. Generosity must be respected on the spirited early betting move however she is 3/17 including 1/12 at Ascot vs 7/13 , 3/9 Ascot , with all 3 wins coming at 1200m.

Best Value Albany r3 Dynamite Bay ; Rainline & Platinum Shot bring the Metro form , DB brings Kojonup Picnic form. It’s the two placings behind Frantic War & Flick The Switch that suggests $14 / $3.30 is a good value play on a heavy place basis. Also carrying 71kgs to victory proves the 10yo still has a zest for it no matter how weak the opposition.

Best Value Ascot r2 Hobelar ; Don’t know what it beat at trials and race pressure can be a different ball game but it brained them over 1000m with the inexperienced apprentice on . Perhaps that gave them a clue that he is a short course speedster and Brad Parnham is one of the best pacemakers in our current riding ranks. Blue Rocket has the form on the board and looks very hard to beat off his latest trial. You can back them both to win rather than Hobelar each way in the small pay 1 & 2 market .

Best Bet Ascot r4 Mississippi Dawn ; Exciting clash between 2 up and coming 3yo fillies heading towards the Autumn 3yo classics. While Funchal will be hard to beat , she will also need luck from barrier one , while Mississippi will be sweeping down the outside whenever Chris Parnham wants to release the handbrake. Bred to get better the further they go , I’m siding with the better odds being offered on Mississippi Dawn .

Best Value Ascot r2 Frantic War returns to the big smoke for a crack at getting us into the winners bar on a Saturday and we think he will run a great race at juicy odds. He brings Great Southern 70+ form which more than stacks up in this line up and is drawn the fence to hold his position , most likely leaders back , in what is expected to be a blistering early tempo . Similar scenario happened at Albany last start and had he got the run he would have bolted in . If Luke can get into the open in the straight then he can play a role in the finish.
