Prize Pursuit has had a freshen up since his last run at his favourite track Kalgoorlie where he returns for a crack at the Coolgardie Sprint over 1300m this Sunday. Coming off a disappointing run first up at Belmont he bounced back at Kal over the 1200m and if it was 1300m he almost definitely would of won. . 7 weeks between runs with an inconclusive trial in the middle , (was a hot trial behind Amelia’s Jewell no less) it’s hard to gauge his chances but his work at home has been spot on and he seems to have his mojo back around the stables.

Race Analysis ; Men’s Club likes to roll out in front and won’t be giving up barrier 1 you would imagine , Time Scale also prefers leading but probably has to breeze or take an unfamiliar sit. This scenario should ensure a decent enough tempo for all horses to get their chance. Prize is a get back run on type so barrier 8 is not disastrous and CJP knows how to get the best out of him. If he can find a back to tow into the straight I’m confident he can be in the finish.

Betting Strategy ; There’s enough juice in the $10 / $3 each way to find out if he is back to his best, in fact if he’s near that level then it’s overs. Mens Club has 60.5kgs and 1300m is 100m past his ideal distance. It’s a genuine quaddie field leg raffle so I’m going to back Prize Pursuit on a heavy place basis.
